Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies
Brock University invites expressions of interest, applications, and nominations as it conducts
an extensive search for a Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies. This position will transition to
Vice Provost, Graduate Studies to serve as a leader and advocate for graduate education to
internal and external stakeholders. During the appointment, the successful candidate will lead
and influence change with respect to academic, administrative, and organizational functions
related to graduate education across the University.

The Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies will lead a flourishing Faculty, supporting over 1,700
students and 48 graduate programs that are integral to Brock's growing reputation for
excellence in research and innovation. Working collaboratively with the Provost and Vice
President, Academic and in conjunction with the larger graduate studies community, including
the Graduate Program Directors, the Dean will build upon programming that offers advanced
learning, research, and scholarship opportunities, excellent graduate supervision, and the
overall support of professional and personal development. The Dean will successfully manage
the financial, administrative, and human resources of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, while
collaboratively communicating and engaging with a variety of internal and external partners to
further enhance the stature and resources of graduate studies at Brock.
The Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies will be an academic and administrative leader with a
strong commitment to serving the needs of graduate students and promoting teaching,
research, program development, and the overall reputation of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Candidates will possess an open and collegial style, outstanding management,
communication, and interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and a strong
commitment to meeting the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The Dean will be an
accomplished researcher and teacher who is eligible for appointment as a Professor. With
progressive experience in graduate education and supervision, building collaborative teams,
and in relating to a range of internal and external partners, the Dean will facilitate and enhance
the endeavours of all areas of the Faculty. The successful candidate will be capable of leading
the strategic and innovative development of current and future programs, driving student
enrolment and community engagement, and championing a graduate culture that meets the
academic, research, scholarship, and professional development needs of a diverse graduate
